Autumn - Winter 2020 .

Many of you are busy with new seasonal dressmaking projects, as is customary when the clocks go back and temperatures drop. This year more so than any other this is the case, bringing much needed pleasure and distraction from all else around!

Corduroy is proving extremely popular, and there is a good selection of colours, including wine and dark green, stone, navy and black. Needlecord is also available in plains , and prints.

Cotton twill has made a welcome return this autumn, with several prints to chose from; it's warm handle is perfect for now - and comfortable to wear. There are also brushed cottons in checks and traditional florals for cosy pyjamas and nightshirts.

Seasonal shades in plain Ponte jersey are perfect for easy to wear dresses and tunics, and there is also an exciting choice in printed Ponte too. Berry colours, blues, khaki and rust are very popular. Viscose jersey prints remain firm favourites for tops and dresses.

An autumn favourite - boiled wool - is back, and along with red, black, dark brown and taupe, we have a vibrant bright blue and lime green; just what we need to cheer us up on a chilly day. Also available, in a slightly lighter weight mix, are purple and bottle. There are two colourways of a fabulous crewel work, jacket weight cloth which makes a stunning garment, and also a textured wool mix boucle, for interesting surface detail. Other lighter wools are available in plains and checks, for skirts and trousers.

Camel and black are an attractive combination in prints this season, as is wine with black; various designs in polyesters and viscoses, for tops and dresses.

Christmas cottons are selling well for all sorts of projects, as is usual at this time. This year, along with other prints, they are being used for masks. A new selection of Sewing Gifts are the perfect solution for Christmas presents, and proving very popular.

There will be more news soon about new evening fabrics. This year especially, we need a little additional sparkle to cheer us up! Watch this space.
